In a public interview Dr. Stefan Franzke, head of Berlin Partner, will speak about ongoing investment trends and will speak on the smart city solutions developed by startups in Berlin. The startups will present their solutions. The questions of the panel will focus on which kind of ecosystem startups need to develop in a rapidly changing business world. The opportunities provided by the proactive global networking of Berlin will be another topic of the discussion.

Phuket and Chiang Mai, the next city planned for a smart city project in 2017, were chosen because the Thai government considered them most prepared for it as well as their location and international ties.The Phuket smart city pilot project will initially zero in on digital infrastructure development, construction of a data center and enhancement of the island’s already established tourism industry.

Thema/Topic :           Central Eastern Europe as hub for innovation – Solutions for cities and civil society

The IT sector in Central & Eastern Europe is the driving force behind many developments.  First of all it has created many new urban growth poles in the region. Cities which a rich academic tradition have become the places for vital ecosystems of startups, SME, universities and meanwhile globally active investments  from VC and multinational corporations.  The very active SME’s since long discovered the international markets and are serving customers from all over the world. CeBIT pavilions represent this opportunities perfectly. The seminar will discuss how cooperation between cities and their local networks can foster businesses and provide resources internationally.

A second focus will be on the IT sector as driver of social and economic development in Central and Eastern Europe: Startups and SME from region will show how they provide ideas for a changing society, modern administration and local/regional business networks.
